History of The Pentecostals of Yorktown

Reverend Daemion Nelson and Sister Nyoker Nelson were youth leaders at the Oneness Rehoboth Apostolic church in Mount Vernon, NY. Their commute to church on any given day would see them travel from their home  in Yorktown
Heights to Mount Vernon. It was on one of these journeys that they noticed kids playing baseball on a Sunday morning.

This caught their eye and their hearts. Through this encounter, God deposited the desire to plant a church in the community of Yorktown Heights that would bring the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of northern Westchester.

This desire was not just for a church but for a House of God that would be guaranteed to effect change that lasts. This desire drove the Nelsons to meet with their spiritual leader, Bishop Arthur Thomas, who gave them his blessing.

This started the wheels turning on the spiritual project for the community of Yorktown. Much prayer was done in their family home, and to God be the glory, the Lord made the way. On January 05, 2016, the Lord made the vision plain as the Pentecostals of Yorktown gathered together in worship for the very first time.

The journey to its first service was sprinkled with Nuggets of God's favor and approval. The vision that God placed on the heart of the new pastor, Daemion Nelson, was confirmed by prophetic utterances and by the opening of doors that no man could shut. One can only look at the provision of the first meeting place outside of the family home. Reverend Nelson would often have spirited discussions with his neighbor, Rabbi Seth. Being excited about what God was doing in his life, Reverend Nelson testified to Rabbi Seth and told him that the family was now seeking a meeting place. The initial desire to rent the Yorktown Community Center was not successful.

Yet Reverend Nelson continued to believe in God, and this, as scripture declares, was evident in his talking about it with the rabbi. It was then that Rabbi Seth invited Pastor Nelson to come by the Yorktown Jewish Center. Reverend Nelson was able through the help of Rabbi Seth to secure the center's library, which was in the basement.

The saints of the Pentecostals of Yorktown began meeting at the Yorktown Jewish Center. The group, over time, grew under God and was forced to secure a larger space in an expanded room. The Yorktown Jewish Center became the home for the Pentecostals of Yorktown. Since then, home has been at the
present location, Grace Lutheran Church at 3830 Gomer St., Yorktown Heights NY.

In March of 2023, Reverend Nelson felt another call. This time it was about his family leaving the New York Metropolitan area and migrating to the State of Florida. After much prayer, Pastor Nelson approached the leader of the New York Metro District, United Pentecostal Church International in the person of Bishop Devon D Dawson.

Reverend Nelson told Bishop Dawson about his decision to migrate. Pastor Nelson was confident that Bishop Dawson would be able to recommend a minister who would have been adequately qualified and prepared to take leadership of the Pentecostals of Yorktown. In June 2023, Bishop Dawson recommended Reverend Andre Davis and Sister Trudy Ann Davis as the ministerial family that would take the baton and lead the assembly on its next leg. It was very interesting how God had orchestrated this move because both families had been brought to work together the previous year in the Bible
Quizzing tournament.

On August 13, 2023, Reverend Andre Davis and Sister Trudy Ann Davis were assigned by the New York Metro District United Pentecostal Church International as the interim Pastor of the Pentecostals of Yorktown.

On May 29, 2026, Reverend Andre Davis was elected to serve as Pastor by the members of the Pentecostals of Yorktown.
